The aura is an inexplicable energy field surrounding the human body, as well as the bodies of animals and even plants. However, the human aura is by far the most concentrated and vivid. Being able to see and read other people’s energy can teach us a great deal about them. Perceiving aura colors helps us better understand the contents of someone else’s heart and mind and can even give us the key to how to heal them, love them or work with them.
Most people are unable to see the auras emanating from others with the naked eye. If you are one of these people, it is understandable if you are skeptical or unsure about whether the aura even exists. Let me assure you that it does – and once you have learned how to see it, the presence of the energy field around people becomes undeniable.
What is the aura?
The aura is essentially an electromagnetic field radiating outward from the body of each and every living thing. The aura, in a sense, is our subtle body, radiating a few feet out from our body. While the energy fields given off by plants and animals consist mostly of a soft, colourless light, the energy radiating from a human body is often bright and awash in colors. If the energy is healthy and vibrant, the color is going to be bright and opaque. If, on the other hand, the person is lacking energy or is misthriving, the colors tend to be watered-down, hazy and even transparent looking.
What can aura readings reveal about people?
Aura colors and their meanings can reveal many things and data about an individual’s energy, health, and even their overall nature. Seeing and interpreting all of the shades of colourful light radiating from another human being won’t tell you everything you may wish to know about them – but an aura reading is certainly a good start when the goal is to understand each other.
What can seeing auras really tell us about people? The primary thing you will be able to know immediately, once you start seeing auras, is whether or not people are in a good or bad place in their lives. Once you start seeing auras, before you even get to the colors, is the strength and radiance of someone’s energy field. If someone is living in a suppressed, unsupportive or untenable situation – basically, if they are not living their truth or true potential – their energetic field will be weak and transparent, perhaps with a soft wash of color to it, like a tint. On the other hand, people with large, radiant auras have very much got their mojo on and are pursuing their true path, at least for the time being. So the first thing to look at is the strength and radiance of auras, then at their colors.
How to see aura colors
Anyone can learn how to see auras and their colors. Even if so far in your life you have never seen another person’s energetic field, you have definitely caught someone’s vibe many a time. This, in itself, is the precursor to physically seeing auras and their colors. If you are brand new to seeing aura colors, it will take some practice -have patience with yourself as you gain and hone this new skill. Most importantly, don’t give up if you don’t succeed the first time you try, or the first several times. If you persevere, you will see aura colors before you know it.
The easiest way to see aura colors is using your peripheral vision. The different parts of our eyes are developed via evolution to serve slightly different purposes. For example our direct vision is designed for us to be able to focus on what is right in front of us, meaning everything from skinning a bison to needlework to posting a tweet on Twitter. Our peripheral vision, on the other hand, is not as sharp and focused, but is able to pick up on the most subtle movement or shift in the world around us. Engaging your peripheral vision makes it possible to see auras around individuals, and surrounding your own body.
In order to practice, I suggest either picking a patient volunteer or using your own hand. The exercise I want you to do is simple: Start by looking intently, either at the middle your hand or the other person’s forehead. Then, while still keeping your eyes where they are, let your eyesight go out of focus, and squint slightly as you move your attention to the outline of your hand. If the exercise works the first time, this is when you will see your own aura, or that of the person you are practicing on. If it doesn’t work the first time, just try again. You may find that it is easier for you to practice on yourself or on someone else – I personally don’t have a preference, but some do. Find out what works best for you.
Here’s a tip: When trying to see the aura, particularly if you aren’t used to it yet, it is easier to see auras in the evening and in relatively dim light. Energy is impossible to see in brightly lit places, even if you have been seeing aura colors for awhile.
Is seeing aura colors difficult?
Seeing aura colors is simple and straightforward – or, it would be, if we didn’t have a tendency to create barriers between ourselves and our full spiritual potential the form of our lifestyle.
In our brains is this small but very important gland called the pineal gland. It is only about the size of a pea, but it is the sole storehouse of the powerful substance, DMT, or N,N-Dimethyltryptamine, sometimes referred to as the spirit molecule because it is responsible for dreams, visions and spiritual experiences. DMT is found in every living thing, from humans to plants. In humans, DMT is only released in large quantities by the pineal gland twice in our lives – when we are born and when we die. In-between the beginning and end of our lives the pineal tends to become depleted, making it harder to connect with our spiritual nature. Netflix, Twitter and various forms of petty drama within our families or circle of friends become pale replacements for our true spiritual journey. For some, it may be necessary to actively seek too restore the pineal gland’s supply of DMT, while for others, dialling back on the distractions of modern life may cut it.
Aura color interpretations
There are countless subtle shades when it comes to aura colors. Below is an overview over the most common aura colors, their links to chakra colors, their meanings and qualities. When we look at the different aura colors and their meanings, keep in mind that many in-between shades exist, and that the colors you see in an individual’s aura may not be clear-cut. For example, who can say exactly where a green green aura crosses over to becoming yellow green, and where is the cut-off point between indigo and magenta?
The root chakra
The colour red is often connected to the base chakra, which symbolises drive, will, ambition, vitality, strength, passion and courage.
If a person’s aura color is a bright and lively red, they are going to be driven, vital and ambitious. Red is a bold, loud color and a person with this aura color will often seem ‘larger than life.’ Their energy is often magnetic and thrilling to be around.
A deep red aura can imply that the person is overly concerned on their own basic needs – food, shelter, power. A very dark red aura can suggest someone who is overly driven by their needs and may be willing to go to great lengths to have them met. Sometimes, their pursuit of pleasure and power may be to the detriment of others. When a very dark red aura is present, there may be an inability for the person to emphasise with others because their focus is entirely on themselves.
The sacral chakra
The colour orange is connected with the sacral chakra, which governs sexuality, confidence and ego.
An orange aura usually radiates from a person who is imbued with a great great sensuality and enjoyment of life. In other words, an orange aura may be the hallmark of a dedicate hedonist – here is an individual who knows how to party and how to relish the fruits and thrills of the physical plane.
An orange or orange red energy field may imply a hyper focus on hedonistic impulses in the here and now without a thought for the future.
The solar plexus chakra
Yellow governs the solar plexus chakra, which signifies joy, playfulness, optimism and lightheartedness.
A lemon yellow or bright yellow aura is a sign of a truly optimistic person, someone with a bright and positive outlook on life – and quite often, someone quite playful, free-spirited and uplifting.
Someone with a yellow energy field might become a little too polyenna, refusing to see or deal with any negativity or confrontation.
The heart chakra
The heart chakra color is green and stands for love, healing, service and accomplishment.
Individuals radiating green auras are heart-led, generous and talented in what they pursue. They are the most loyal and well-balanced of people.
In a negative sense, individuals with green auras may become overly protective of friends and loved ones, overfeeding them with unwanted amounts of care and affection.
The color blue is connected with the throat chakra, symbolising communication, self-expression and truth-seeking.
Whenever you encounter an individual radiating a blue aura, you are in the presence of a great orator and performer, a master with words and a king or queen of self-expression.
A blue aura implies a silver tongue. Politicians are often surrounded by blue auras, as are lawyers and other well-spoken people in positions of power. People with blue auras speak with complete conviction and the ring of truth, enabling them to sway almost anyone to their cause.
Indigo purple aura
An indigo purple aura is symbolic of unbridled self-expression. A person surrounded by a vibrant, indigo purple energy field is most likely living through an intense chapter of self-discovery and the unlocking of great creative energy. The indigo purple aura is powerful and compelling – a sense of adventurousness and magnetism surrounds this person.
Where the bright indigo aura appears, there may be tendency towards creative obsession – which could be a good or a bad thing, depending on your point of view.
A violet aura is often seen as being connected to the crown chakra, which is a portal, a direct line of communication, to the divine. The crown chakra is connected with spirituality, divinity, intuition and mysticism.
A violet aura color is a sign of vast creativity and inspired ideas. People emanating a violet aura tend to be quirky and creative thinkers and are often the first to volunteer to explore unchartered creative, scientific or subconscious terrain. Those surrounded by a violet aura tend to be driven by an insatiable curiosity about what lies hidden in the various folds of both the inner and outer universe.
In some cases, a violet aura color could suggest an extreme focus on the spiritual and creative aspects of life, to the detriment of mundane tasks, such as paying the bills.
A bright pink aura is brimming with positive connotations of love, friendship and sincerity. The color pink is associated with kindness, generosity, giving, nurturing and compassion. When you see someone with this aura color they are likely to be a caregiver of some kind, whether they express this energy as a nurse, a philanthropist or a mother – or all three! People emanating a pink aura are big-hearted and often hopelessly romantic. Because those surrounded by a pink aura color are generous and kind, they also tend to have an unfaltering optimism and faith in humanity.
A person with a pink aura color may be too much of a giver, with a tendency to forget themselves and their own needs entirely while tending diligently to the needs of others. Individuals with pink auras may also struggle with setting personal boundaries and may find it extremely difficult to say no once in a while.
A grey or colourless aura is a sign of lack of energy and often of the beginning stages of depression. A grey aura is always indicative of a lack of vitality and life force, a lack of drive. Often, a grey aura will surround someone coping with grief or just a general sense of hopelessness. Thankfully, a grey aura is often a transient phenomena, accompanying an individual going through a difficult situation where they feel out of bounds, powerless or uncomfortable.
A brown aura is a sign of stale energy and it often speaks of dangerous health problems. Whenever you come across a person with a brown or yellow-brown aura, it is a sign that their physical body is overtaken by illness, imbalance or excess. A brown, muddy-looking energy field is a clear sign that change and healing are sorely needed, that balance will need to be restored in this person’s life. In some instances, a brown aura is a sign of substance abuse, excess smoking, bad diet or other habits that compound to cause severe damage to the body.
Black is not a negative color in and of itself – however, it is an imploding color, essentially absorbing all others into itself. When it comes to auras, seeing a black aura around a person is a warning sign. Most likely, this person is in the pit of deep depression and potentially suicidal. When you come across someone radiating a black aura, you have cause to be concerned for their wellbeing. A black aura is not always a sign of the mental state of the prson emanating the aura – in some instances, it may be a sign of negativity being directed at the individual. For example, a black aura color may surround a victim of abuse, bullying or domestic violence. In rare instances, a black aura could be a sign of negative spiritual influences.
Of all the aura colors, white is probably the rarest to come upon. The color white is universally symbolic of purity and a strong connection to godhead. White is the divine light. A person surrounded by a white aura color is likely to be a very old soul – someone who, in a sense, has already graduated from the physical plane but is still around to heal and guide the rest of us. People with white auras may be spiritual teachers, great healers, or simply people who work to enhance and uplift the overall vibration of humanity.
Nearly as rare as the white aura is the rainbow coloured one. While it isn’t uncommon for a person’s aura to contain more than one color note, a whole prism of colors is extremely rare and suggests a dynamic and vibrant energy. A rainbow aura may be a very transient phenomenon and could well be the aftermath of a mind-expanding travel or experience, if not the hallmark of a recent spiritual awakening.
